Nature’s Reef & Reptile keeps reef and reptiles under one roof on Jamaica Avenue in Richmond Hill, Queens. The story behind the store, though, starts in Brooklyn, with a boy listening to his dad’s tales of Guyana.
Where it all started
Naz, the store’s owner, was born in Brooklyn to Guyanese parents. Growing up, he heard his dad’s tales of fishing trips and of the wild reptiles they would come across in the dense rainforest of Guyana.
Those tales stayed with him. They sparked a love of the natural world, from coral reefs to saltwater and freshwater fish to reptiles, and his passion keeps bringing him back to animals.
Reef and reptiles under one roof
That same mix of interests runs through the store today. We keep the water world and the reptile world together: saltwater and freshwater fish, corals, and reptiles. So whether you keep a reef tank, a gecko or both, you can bring all of your questions to one place.

Come explore, and leave with an experience
Our earlier website summed up the idea in one line: “Come explore our store, and leave with an experience.” Those words still fit, because a visit here is meant to feel like exploring, not just shopping.
So take your time. Look closely at the tanks, ask about an animal you’ve never kept, and talk shop with us. Walk-ins are always welcome.
Our mission
“At Nature’s Reef and Reptile, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality products and services for your exotic reptiles and fish. Our mission is to promote responsible pet ownership and enhance the lives of pets and their owners.”
Put simply, we care how an animal does after it goes home, not only on the day you pick it out. A pet that thrives makes for a happy keeper, and that’s the whole point.
Out at the Nassau County Reptile Expo
We had a vendor table at the 2023 Nassau County Reptile Expo, hosted by Uncle Tony’s Reptile Shack. You can watch the video from that day on our YouTube channel.
Follow the store online
Between visits, you can keep up with the store online. Our YouTube channel has unboxing and animal-spotlight videos.
